- Carpets of bright green, perfectly groomed tea bushes grow beneath the shadow of an active volcano in Kagoshima Prefecture, one of Japan’s premiere tea growing regions. Fertile, volcanic soil and the tea maker’s meticulous steaming techniques give sencha (the traditional tea of Japan) a grassy-pine aroma, deep umami flavor and sweet, fresh finish.BREWING TIPS: Japanese green teas require lower water temperature and steep times than many other tea types. For this specific sencha, we recommend steeping 1 tablespoon of tealeaves in 12 ounces of 180° F water for 2 minutes.

Our elegant, embossed tin is designed to keep tea fresh and full of flavor.
Each tin holds approximately 48 teaspoons (16 tablespoons) of loose tea. The number of servings-per-tin varies depending upon the type of tea, leaf size, cup size and desired strength (amount of tea used).
The tin itself measures 6.25 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 2 inches deep. Although a tin holds 16 fluid ounces by volume, the actual ounce weight of the tea within varies depending on the density of the leaf.
